Likened to the intricate solo work of Thom Yorke and topping Hype Machine charts in the last week is the newest release from Glasgow producer and songwriter, Jon Cooper. In the same week that he made number four on HYPE machine, the alt-electronic project of Turtle also captured the title of “Artist of the Week” by FAME Magazine and has since received over 50,000 plays on Soundcloud since its release just over a week ago.
Following on from his Gilles Peterson-backed debut EP, Lavender follows suits in its captivating and fully entrenched soundscape, and is a taste of Cooper’s forthcoming EP, Colours, to be released in early 2015 via Beatnik Creative. Like his somewhat esoteric and entrancing debut, Cooper continues to marvel listeners with a deeply moved, medicinal swell of sound which, at times, is highly spirited and reminiscent of Primal Scream’s eulogised Come Together.
