GEMS | Sinking Stone

NEW VIDEO: The dark tale of young lovers is cinematically depicted in the epic new clip for GEMS’ Sinking Stone, taken from their phenomenal debut EP, Medusa. The Washington D.C. dream-wave/pop duo began making music together in 2012 but it was only until last year that we got to officially hear their debut - and a thoroughly impressive debut it was. Sinking Stone’s clip has been likened to Bonnie & Clyde and Romeo & Juliet in its destructive narrative of two ill-fated lovers, with the depiction of what is an inevitable journey that will lead to an abrupt end; “I need to know our love’s not a sinking stone."

The clip was directed by Eastern/Western-fused duo, BRTHR (Alex Lee and Kyle Wightman), whose recent works also include Iggy Azalea’s Bounce, MSMR’s Think of You, and Foster The People’s Coming of Age. Stylistically, they are renowned for their “speed-ramped”, euphoric music videos; perfectly fitting and appropriate for the powerful pop ballad vocals of Lindsay Pitts and the warmly hallucinogenic feel of GEMS' romanticized world.
