THE VICKERS | Ghosts

Florence quartet The Vickers can be easily identified by their signature 60’s psych-rock sound which derives much of its inspiration from the hooks and catchiness of British invasion songs; perhaps better articulated by the band as being an influence of “immortal 60’s melodies mixed with a touch of 90’s spleen”.

Their third album release, Ghosts, featuring the previously released kaleidoscopic singles, She’s Lost and I Don’t Know What It Is, still delivers on much of what we expect from the band in terms of hallucinogenic guitar reverb and bloomy vocals, but it also draws on much of the ‘spleen’ that they refer to of 90’s Brit-rock sounds which is more formative with its pop/rock embrace rather than delivering a barrage of psychedelic effects – these are in there too, but with obvious intent and colourful nuance. Lead vocalist and guitarist, Andrea Mastropietro, remarked that Ghosts would embark on a more experimental path than their previous LPs: “The new album will be different from the past (records)...we decided to take more time to produce the songs so we experimented with new sounds and approached the songs in a different way.”

The band will also be taking their newly expanded sound on the road in the comings months around Europe in conjunction with the latest LP release.

Ghosts is now available through Black Candy Records, Warner Chappell & Ruby Music.
