Some promising lo-fi pop has arisen from the corners of Orlando in the way of duo, SALES. Composed in an improvised environment with warm guitar riffs, gentle vocals and signature production, Jordan Shih and Lauren Morgan have found a comfortable milieu within pop that allows for sampling, live recording and ad-libbed creativity.
On a similar plain to the Californian haze of Ariel Pink, SALES’ debut tracks, Toto and Renee, cascade into the psych-streams of the more independent pop/rock sounds, without getting too lost in a hallucinogenic fog. Their debut tracks and upcoming EP release also feature artwork from Orlando-based collage artist, Alana Questell, whose work is inspired by the “warped echoes of history”, and the world of dreams; completely fitting for the visionary soundscapes coloured by Jordan and Lauren.
SALES have recently appeared on Bandcamp’s weekly podcast mix, and will also be appearing at Florida’s Total Bummer festival in late August, 2013.
Toto is now available to stream via Bandcamp, and their debut EP release can be pre-ordered before its September 2013 release.
