THE KITE STRING TANGLE | Given The Chance

It’s been a busy twelve months for Brisbane multi-instrumentalist, Danny Harley. Locals will know him best as the front man for electro-pop-rock runabouts Pigeon (the men responsible for that hefty nine minute Daft Punk medley generating over 200K hits on YouTube). But with a background in composition it’s not surprising to see Harley creating another musical outlet which lends itself to the softer and more complex domains of sound production.

Given The Chance, the latest release from Harley’s glo-fi / downtempo moniker, The Kite String Tangle, has garnered a swarm of attention for its ambient softness and lo-fi pop persona. Drawing similarities to the emotive landscapes of James Blake and Mount Kimbie, TKST marries samples and field recordings with representations of imagery and nostalgic musings; it is as much sensitive as it is refined. In just over a year Harley has been performing and recording his project as a solo artist, and he's already engineered an impressive catalogue of remixes for the likes of Flume, Strange Talk and Hungry Kids of Hungary.
