Before 2014’s close we introduced a highly promising Glasgow producer by the name of Jon Cooper, who released his captivating debut EP, Who Knows, just over twelve months ago. Returning in 2015, Cooper (aka Turtle) returns with another beautifully buoyant single, following on from his Lavender single release, which will also appear on his next upcoming EP, to be released in April (Beatnik Creative).
Earmilk captured the producer’s flair for intoxicating soundscapes quite vividly citing that Cooper places a “thematic emphasis on complex arrangements that travel effortlessly through space”. But perhaps what is even more refreshing about Cooper’s latest offering (Colours) is the introduction of some heavier post-rock arrangements that build to quite a crescendo and extend beyond Turtle’s normally alt-electronica persona making for a rather spiritualised journey for accompanying ears.
