SHAMPOO BOY | Licht

Straight from the experimental musings of Vienna’s most darkly innovative is collaborative project, Shampoo Boy, uniting long-time friends Christian Schachinger, Christina Nemec and Peter Rehberg. Their union brings together over 25 years of collaborative experience, unleashing a miasmic psychedelic reality that is vexed by heavy guitars and distorted undercurrents.

For those unfamiliar with their work, the three have significantly cultivated the European experimental scene during their careers; Schachinger, guitarist for grim-pop outfit, Peterlicker; Nemec, member of contra-sexual electronic performance group, SV Damenkraft, and Peter Rehberg; electronic mastermind of the dark and ambient, KTL.

Their debut release, Licht, is a clever alliance of their combined avant-garde styles delivered via a snowstorm of drone, metal, ambience and noise. But if that wasn’t enough to keep listeners stirred, Licht unleashes a tirade of distortion coils that unravel and loop between waves of aeroplane bass, fit for only the curious and unfearing. Tipped to be one of Blackest Ever Black’s landmark releases, Shampoo Boy’s darkly ambient debut is brilliantly murky yet stimulating, showcasing a collaborative milestone of what is to be a promising on-going project straight from one of Europe's pioneering and experimental music scenes.
