BLAUE BLUME | Helen

It’s probably fair to say that most, if not all, of the online independent music hubs have been patiently anticipating the next follow-up release from Danish quartet, Blaue Blume, who released the enchanting On New Years Eve earlier in 2013. German for 'blue flower' and symbolic of what is considered infinite and inspirational, Blaue Blume have returned with Helen - a complex and curious second release by a band best defined in genre by The Line Of Best Fit as ‘fatalist’ indie pop.

Perhaps it’s the complexity in the vocal that carries the most weight when creating a point of difference between Blaue Blume in the broad spectrum of ‘indie pop’ when Jonas Smith sweeps effortlessly between low tessitura and angelic falsetto in an instant. When beseeching vocals coalesce with the undertones of reverbed pedals, a complex narrative is woven creating another landmark debut from this Copenhagen outfit. Meget godt.
