Named as the “Unsigned Artist of the Week” earlier this year by one of Norway’s biggest radio stations (NRKP3), Lumikide present their first release single, Again, with Bergen-based record label Klangkollektivet, who is responsible for the recent success of psychedelic rock outfit, Electric Eye.
The track fluctuates between controlled and refined verses to a formidable chorus sound which is achieved with the use of analogue synths through old German amps. And with a background in improvisation and jazz it is no surprise that much of the quartet’s composition occurs spontaneously, resulting in a colourfully frenetic mood that is also ideal for a light-hearted pop anecdote. With band influences stemming from Portishead to Susanna Wallumrød, there is evidently a complimentary nod to dreamy alternative pop sounds that are lead with strong female vocals as well.
